Pakistan Badminton Federation Holds Controversial Elections Without PSB Oversight

Elections Conducted Without PSB Observers

The Pakistan Badminton Federation (PBF) has come under serious criticism after conducting what many have described as “fake elections” without the presence of Pakistan Sports Board (PSB) observers — a mandatory requirement under national sports regulations.
According to credible sources, the federation went ahead with its electoral process quietly, avoiding any official correspondence with the PSB, which raises questions about the legality of the entire exercise.

Violation of Sports Policy

Under the National Sports Policy of Pakistan, all national federations are required to conduct elections under the observation of the PSB to ensure transparency and accountability.
However, in this case, no PSB representative was informed or invited to oversee the voting process — a clear violation of established procedures.

A senior PSB official confirmed that “no observer from the Pakistan Sports Board was present during the so-called elections, nor was any official schedule shared with us.” He added that such elections cannot be recognized until verified by the Board.

Stakeholders Cry Foul

Several provincial badminton associations and stakeholders have rejected the election results, alleging that only selective members were allowed to vote.
“It was a pre-planned move to keep control of the federation in the same hands,” said a provincial representative who participated in earlier PBF meetings.
He added that genuine representatives were deliberately excluded to manipulate the outcome.
