The J-60 Bard Foundation Junior World Tennis Championships continued at the Pakistan Tennis Federation (PTF) Tennis Complex, Garden Avenue, Islamabad, with promising young tennis players from around the world.
The championships feature a total of 58 players, including 36 boys and 22 girls, from 14 countries: Russia, Hong Kong, China, Thailand, Kazakhstan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka, Serbia, Australia, Spain, Canada, Belarus, Sweden and Pakistan.
The tournament is sponsored by the Bard Foundation, whose valuable contribution is playing an important role in promoting and strengthening junior tennis in Pakistan.
Mr. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi, President PTF, along with Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail, Secretary General PTF, and the PTF management, extended a warm welcome to all participating players and officials and wished them success in the championships.
Mr. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi highlighted the Pakistan Tennis Federation’s commitment to providing international exposure and competitive opportunities to Pakistani players. He noted that PTF has been successfully organising a series of international events in the country, including two WT Women’s World Tennis Tour tournaments, the Billie Jean King Cup Asia/Oceania Group III competition and three consecutive WT Junior tournaments.
He further informed that, following the conclusion of the junior championships, Pakistan will host two WT Men’s World Tennis Tour (Futures) tournaments, further strengthening the country’s international tennis calendar.
He emphasized that hosting such international competitions on home soil enables Pakistani players, particularly juniors, to compete against international opponents, gain valuable match experience, earn international ranking points and improve their rankings without the additional expense and challenges of travelling abroad.
Mr. Aisam-ul-Haq Qureshi and Col. Zia-ud-Din Tufail also acknowledged the generous support of the Bard Foundation and expressed their gratitude for its continued contribution towards the growth and development of tennis in Pakistan.
