    Basketball Championship started on Saturday 25th January at Hill Park basketball court. In inaugural ceremony Ashfaq Ahmed Chairman Karachi Basketball Scrutiny Committee was the Chief Guest, he said that Karachi Basketball have lot of talent but need to be polished but our mandate is to Scrutinise the clubs and hold the Elections of Karachi Basketball Association. On the 1st day 4 matches were played and witnessed by the Scrutiny Committee.1st match played between Nixor club and Hill Park club. Nixor club won the match by 33 – 32. Half time score was 15 – 19 in favour of Hill Park club. Zakaria Ali scored 12 points Hamza Hamid 7 points and ZAID Adnan 6 points from winning team. While Mustafa fasihi scored 10 points and Hassam Babur 8 points from loosing team.In the 2nd match PECHS club beats Sharks club, final score was 34-22.Rayyan ul Haq scores 11 points, Bilal Rind 7 and Zaid Khan 5 points from winning team while Huzaifa Mushtaq 8 points and Abdul Nafah scored 6 points from loosing team.3rd match played between Karachi Youth club and Paracha club, Karachi Youth club beats Paracha club by 39-35 points. Half time score was18-14 in favour of Karachi youth. Murtaza scores 10 points Munir Abbas 7 and Meer Murtaza 6 from winning team and Kyle Christopher 12points,Shahzaib sheikh 7 points from loosing team.In the 4th match of the day RISING STAR club beats by Karachi youth club by 32-28 points in a thrilling match. Munir Abbas 11,Saifullah 10 and Murtaza Khan scored 6 points from Winning team and Haroon Khan 12 points and Syed Adnan Ali 9 points from loosing ۔

    KHURRAM SHEHZAD: Pakistan Wapda emerged victorious in a nail-biting showdown against Pakistan Army, clinching the National Men’s Basketball Championship 2023 trophy in a riveting final at Govt College University Lahore on Friday. 

    Wapda win thrilling final against Army 73-70

    In a fiercely contested match, both teams displayed exceptional skills and tenacity, battling until the final moments. Wapda, however, seized control in the last quarter, securing a thrilling 73-70 victory. Zainul Hassan of Wapda emerged as the hero of the day, contributing a stellar performance with 28 points, while teammates M Usman and M Zahid Arif added 14 and 13 points, respectively.  

    Despite a valiant effort from Army, Wapda’s dominance in the closing stages proved decisive. Tughlab Ammar led the scoring for Army with 24 points, followed by Shoaib Aslam with 19 points and Sheraz Aslam with 12 points. The officiating team of Umer Mehmood, Syed Adnan Ali, and Saadat Jehangir ensured a fair and competitive match. 

    PAF dominate Lahore 90-61 to win third position

    In the third/fourth position match, Pakistan Air Force secured a convincing 90-61 victory against Lahore, claiming the third position. The closely contested match saw PAF with a slight 38-37 lead at halftime. M Akhtar (24 points), Ahmed Jan (22 points), and Umair Jan (11 points) were the top scorers for PAF, while Saboor Mehdi (20 points), Ahmed Abbas (12 points), and Salman Rafiq (10 points) stood out for Lahore. Yaqoob Qadri, Syed Adnan Ali, and Ghulam Muhammad Memon officiated the match.

    LAHORE : Pakistan Army is set to face off against Pakistan Wapda in the final of the National Men’s Basketball Championship 2023, scheduled for tomorrow (Friday) at Govt College University Lahore at 3:00 PM.  

    *1st Semifinal: Army outpace Lahore 84-58* 

    The semifinals, played on Thursday, showcased intense battles and stellar performances. In the first semifinal, Pakistan Army faced a formidable challenge from Lahore Division Basketball Team but emerged victorious with a scoreline of 84-58. At halftime, Army held a close lead of 38-23. Tughlab Ammar led the charge for Pakistan Army with an impressive 33 points, supported by M Shehbaz Ali (9 points) and Sheraz Aslam (9 points). Lahore’s contributions came from Safi Khan (27 points), Ibtisam Murtaza (8 points), and Mohsin Mehtab (8 points). 

    *2nd Semifinal: Wapda secure impressive 80-51 win over PAF* 

    The second semifinal witnessed Pakistan Wapda securing an impressive 80-51 victory over Pakistan Air Force. Leading 38-30 at halftime, Wapda showcased outstanding basketball skills, with Zainul Hassan (28 points), M Zahid Arif (16 points), and M Usman (15 points) steering their team to success. For Pakistan Air Force, Umair Jan scored 23 points, with M Akhter contributing 8 points and Ahmed Jan securing 7 points. 

    A sizable crowd, including spectators such as Shahid Mirza, Tajamal Riaz, Umer Sardar, Mateen Akmal, Director of Sports at GCU Waseem Akhtar, PBBF Secretary General Khalid Bashir, Muhammad Azam Dar, and students of GC University, witnessed the thrilling matches officiated by referees Ghulam Muhammad Memon, M M Alam, Gul Jamal, Umer Muhammad, Syed Adnan Ali, and Saadat Jehangir.

    National Men’s Basketball Championship: Army, Lahore, PAF, Wapda secure semis spots

    KHURRAM SHEHZAD : Pakistan Army will take on Lahore in the first semifinal while PAF will vie against Wapda in the second semifinal of the National Men’s Basketball Championship 2023 here at Govt College University Lahore on Thursday.

    *Army dominate POF 93-48* 

    In the first match of the day on Wednesday, Pakistan Army defeated POF by 93-48. At half time, Army team was leading with a score of 54/30. The top contributors from Army were Imad (18 points), M Usman (14 points) and Tughlab (11 points). For team POF, Izharullah (18 points), Tayyab (13 points) and M Farooq (10 points) played well. The match was supervised by referees Gul Jamal, Naveed Ahmed Beeda and Adeel S Raza. 

    *PAF outclass Faisalabad 111-62* 

    The second match of the day saw PAF outclassing Faisalabad by 111-62. At the half time, PAF had a huge lead of 51-19. The top scorers for PAF were Mehtab (23 points), M Akhtar (18 points) and M Zuhair (12 points). For Faisalabad, Gul Baaz (15 points), Usman Talib (15 points) and Faheem Sattar (9 points) contributed well. The match was supervised by referees Ghulam Muhammad, Muhammad Muddassar and Muazzam Naveed.  

    *Wapda edge Lahore 77-62* 

    The third contest of the day proved a thrilling encounter, where Pakistan Wapda faced tough resistance from Lahore Division Basketball Team before winning the nail-biting clash 77-62. At half time, the score was 36-25 in favour of Wapda. The top contributors from Wapda were M Usman (26 points), Zain-ul-Hassan (20 points) and Amir Farooq (11 points). For team Lahore, Saboor Mehdi (16 points), Safi Khan (15 points) and Ahmed Abbas (14 points). The match was supervised by referees Syed Adnan Ali Shah, Umer Mehmood and Gul Jamal.  

    *Islamabad down Navy 62-54* 

    The fourth match was won by Islamabad Basketball Team, who defeated Pakistan Navy by 62-54. At half time, Islamabad had a slight lead of 32-29. For team Islamabad, the top scorers were Ali Kazimi (22 points), Farhan Qayyum (17 points) and Haris Siddiqui (8 points). For Pakistan Navy, Zaiur Rehman (19 points), Babur Manan (10 points) and Muhammad Adnan (8 points). The match was supervised by referees Adeel S Raza, Ghulam Muhammad and Saadat Jehangir.

    Day-1

    FAISALABAD : National Bank of Pakistan T-20 Blind Cricket Trophy (Grade-2) commenced in Faisalabad. The Tournament will be played from 22nd to 26th November 2023.  

    Mr. Jalil ur Rehman Assistant Commissioner (General) Faisalabad, Mr. Rana Riaz Business Head & SVP National Bank of Pakistan, Syed Sultan Shah Chairman PBCC & President World Blind Cricket Ltd, Mr. Tariq Nazir, Divisional Sports Officer Faisalabad, Dr. Anwar Ali Sial Director Finance PBCC and Mr. Muhammad Bilal Director Cricket Operations PBCC were the Guests of the occasion and officially inaugurated the event.

    1st Match:

    Attock Vs Abbottabad:  (Venue: Bohranwali Cricket Ground Faisalabad)

    First match of the event was played between Attock and Abbottabad at Bohranwali Cricket Ground Faisalabad. In the morning Attock won the toss and decided to bowl first. Abbottabad made just 147 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Naeemullah was their highest scorer with 57 runs off 40 balls. Muhammad Noman, Muhammad Haroon, Ehtisham ul Haq and Muhammad Sohail claimed a wicket a piece.

    In reply, Attock chased down the target in just 9.3 overs without losing a wicket. Muhammad Zeeshan played a brisk innings of 90 runs off 40 balls featuring 18 (4’s) while Ehtisham ul Haq made 38 runs.

    Result: Attock won by 10 wickets Man of the match: Muhammad Zeeshan

    2nd Match:

    Karachi Vs Sargodha (Venue: HPC Centre Chak-8, Faisalabad)

    In the 2nd match of the tournament, Sargodha won the toss and asked Karachi to bat first. Karachi made 170 runs for the loss of 4 wickets in stipulated 20 overs. Shoaib Khan and Bismillah Khan made 30 and 26 runs respectively.  Muhammad Abdullah was the only bowler to claim a wicket.

    In reply, Sargodha chased the target of 171 runs in 18.4 overs for the loss of 2 wickets. Gul Shair played superbly for his 80 runs off 56 balls while Zain Ashraf made unbeaten 60 runs. Rashed Akbar claimed 1 wicket.

    Result: Sargodha won by 8 wickets          Man of the Match: Gul Shair

    3rd Match:

    Faisalabad Vs Sheikopura:  (Venue: Bohranwali Cricket Ground Faisalabad)

    Third match of the event was played between Faisalabad and Sheikopura at Bohranwali Cricket Ground Faisalabad. Faisalabad won the toss and decided to bat first. Faisalabad made 273 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 3 wickets. Ejaz Hussain played extraordinary well and scored a ton, he made 141 runs off 62 balls featuring 26 boundaries. Bilal Ali was the 2nd highest scorer with 57 runs off 36 balls. Sohaib Mehtab was the only bowler from Sheikhopura to claim a wicket.

    In reply, Sheikhopura couldn’t make the most of the batting friendly conditions and made just 177 runs in stipulated 20 overs for the loss of 5 wickets. Raheel Ahmed made unbeaten 78* runs off 67 balls. For Faisalabad, Bilal Ahmed took 1 wicket.

    Result: Faisalabad won by 96 runs      Man of the match: Ejaz Husain

    4th Match:

    Quetta Vs Gilgit-Baltistan: (Venue: HPC Centre Chak-8, Faisalabad)

    Fourth match of the event was played between Quetta and Gilgit-Baltistan at HPC Centre Chak-8, Faisalabad.

    Quetta won the toss and elected to bat first. Naseebullah’s superb innings of 143 runs off 72 balls helped Quetta to set the gigantic total of 263 runs in allotted 20 overs for the loss of 1 wicket. Muhammad Saleem also made useful contribution of 70 runs off 51 balls. For Gilgit-Baltistan, Shoeb ul Hassan fetched 1 wicket.

    In reply, Gilgit Baltistan Scored only 89 runs in 20 overs for the loss of 7 wickets. Muzaffar Ali was the top scorer with 23 runs off 25 balls. M Saleem took 3 wickets and Imran Hakeem claimed 2 wickets for Quetta.  

    Result: Quetta won by 174 runs   Man of the match: Naseeb Ullah

    Lahore :Four more matches were contested in the National Men’s Basketball Championship 2023 here at the Govt College University Lahore on Tuesday. 

    Army Triumph Over PAF (81-63):

    In a thrilling showdown, the Army emerged victorious against PAF with a scoreline of 81-63. The top performers for Pakistan Army included Shehbaz Ali (18 points), Shoaib Aslam (15 points), and Sheraz Aslam (14 points). On the PAF side, Akhtar Jan (13), Ahmed Jan (12), and Umar Jan (12) showcased commendable gameplay.

    Wapda Dominate Navy (86-40):

    Pakistan Wapda displayed dominance over Pakistan Navy, securing an impressive 86-40 victory. The leading scorers for Wapda were M Usman (16 points), Amir Farooq (16 points), and Zahid Arif (12 points). Babur Manan (14 points) and Amannual Fayyaz (10 points) stood out for Navy.

    POF Command Victory Over Faisalabad (84-53):

    POF asserted their dominance with a commanding 84-53 win against Faisalabad. Tayyab Abbas led the charge with an outstanding performance, scoring 28 points. Izharullah contributed 22 points, and Faruksher added 12 points. Usman Talib (19 points) and Rana Ehsan (10 points) displayed resilience for Faisalabad.

    Lahore Secure Triumph Over Islamabad (68-54):

    In a closely contested match, Lahore emerged triumphant with a final score of 68-54 against Islamabad. Saboor Mehdi (12 points), Taimoor Mehdi (18 points), and Ahmed Abbas (14 points) led the charge for the home team, while S Kazimi (12 points) and Haris (8 points) showed their prowess for Islamabad.

    The entire day’s play was closely monitored by referees Gul Jamal, Syed Adnan Ali Shah, and Ghulam Muhammad, ensuring fair play and an exciting display of basketball prowess.
